Hot Tea & Living Room Adventure

Hosted by Jennie Z

Next: The Cotton Saga Continues

It seems like years ago that we started out on this adventure. As we have traveled to different people we have gotten requests to visit those peoples friends also. We, of course, do our best to accommodate when we are in the area.

Jennie Z is one of Su P.'s friends. Su is the gal we visited in Oceanside, NY. She also visited us in Hawaii when the Roaming Gnome was here. Nuff said...

We arrived in Virginia Beach today at around 2 in the afternoon. No one was home to welcome us! I was told the weather would be warm in Virginia but I’d brought a sweater anyway—and a good thing! Even though it looks bright and sunny here there was a very cold wind and the porch never got any sunlight, probably because it’s facing North.

We hung out here for a while on the back porch, but some stray cats were looking at us like we might be tasty, so Tiki and I hid in the sage plant until my host family arrived home. It was very pleasant there; as you may know we Gnomes are most comfortable in gardens and lawns!

It was worth the wait though! When Jennie & Hailey finally got home they heated up the kettle and fixed us some hot drinks!

They had a bigger selection of teas than I’ve seen in most grocery stores. I chose the Guava Ginseng tea (delicious!) and Tiki had a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows (which melted quickly.) He stared at the marshmallows in amazement and demanded more after those had melted. Just the thing we needed to warm up! And what a fab mug with the Yellow Submarine pictures!

Tiki and I were still a little tired and cold from the travel and wait outside, so we sat around this scented candle. The smell and warmth reminded us of a campfire! Normally Tiki cannot get too close to campfires but this one was just the right size.

Jennie sells these candles from home so naturally there is one in each room, and the house always smelled great! I told her I’d post a link to her website where you can contact her and buy some candles so here it is : www.enchantedwax.com

After tea and supper they showed us around the house. Jennie has a lot of characters living on top of her desk. Imagine my surprise when one of them suddenly came to life and started chasing me! He kept shouting something about a ring of power and calling me “Baggens” or something and just would not let up! Jennie said he was one of the Nazgul or Ring Wraiths from LOTR.

Finally we got away by building a fort on the couch and hiding beneath a blanket, using a pile of unfolded laundry for camouflage. Whew! That was a close one! I never did figure out why he was carrying a chimpanzee with him. (That’s Hailey behind Tiki, and Jennie in the Red shirt.)

I was so grateful to have escaped that while everyone was sleeping I decided to take care of their laundry for them!

I read a story once about some elves that made shoes and now it’s so cliché—I hope this will not trick people into thinking that they can go around leaving laundry everywhere and gnomes will do it for them. We have better things to do, honestly.
