The Volcano Winery is just a few
miles outside of Volcanoes National Park and a wonderful
stop to sample yet another great product from Hawaii.
I was not too impressed with Tony as he was trying the
muumuu bottle cozies on me. Certainly if I were to wear
such a thing it would need to be a dark color.

In record time we were greeted by
the lovely staff of the winery and offered a complimentary
wine tasting. We started with the Symphony Dry which
is a fragrant bouquet of peach, apricot, and lychee.
This wine won a bronze medal at the 2004 Finger Lakes
International Wine Competition.

Tiki Jr. exclaimed that he wanted
to taste the wine that won the reward. Never satisfied
with a sample he made quick work of a quarter of the
bottle. After a slight burp he nodded that it met his
worldly standards.
We were all quite embarrassed, however, the staff just
smiled in amusement.

The RG exclaimed that he is, of course,
a world traveler and has sampled wines from all over
the globe, with a big grin.
Our wine sampling hostess, Lauren
offered RG the rockstar treatment he deserves. Hey now
that IS service!
After the obligatory sniffing of the wine, RG took the
slightest little sip, rolled it around his mouth a bit
and offered that the Volcano Blush boasts a ripe black
cherry and cranberry note and ends with a light, fruity
finish. We are impressed.

Tiki Jr. was feeling a bit giddy
from the Symphony Dry at this point and exclaimed "I
want my picture taken with Lauren!"
As you can see he is quite pleased that we obliged his
request.

The Volcano Winery offers 6 wines
produced locally on the island of Hawaii. The uniquely
crafted wines are made with exotic fruits of the island
and they make an all-honey wine made with Macadamia
Nut honey. This one is a personal favorite of Tony's
wife and a must sample.
