As
we suspected, the news was wrong about the 5" of
snow. Mattawan got all of an inch, maybe 2. (This was
apparently all you need to end up without power all
night long!!!) *sigh*
Before the snow had a chance to melt, Tiki Jr wanted
to go outside to see what all the fuss was about. He
was beside himself with excitement and Heather was kind
enough to take us outside, even though she was still
in her jammies. The snow melted fast! It's a good thing
we got up early this morning.

Our
first snowball fight! I was amazed and a bit concerned
that Tiki Jr's snowball was far bigger than my own.
"How did he do that??"
Heather later explained to me that snow is generally
white, not yellow or any other variation.

Before
any damage was done, a truce was called and together
we built our very first snowman, Frosty. (This
is my favorite travel shot so far!)
As the snow began to melt, Tiki Jr panicked and suggested
that we put Frosty in the freezer, which we did. I'm
sorry Tiki Jr, Frosty isn't gonna be able to travel
with us.

This
afternoon, we had the pleasure of visiting Ms. Siwula's
3rd grade class at Mattawan Later Elementary. Everyone
was very excited to meet me and my traveling companion
Tiki Jr and be a part of our travel adventures. We managed
to get all the kids to sit still for a "serious"
picture, then let them break loose and be goofy for
one too (at their request). See below.

Look
closely in the background, that's Derek Jeter!!! Derek
is a Kalamazoo native, which is only a 10 minute drive
from here... So of course, we had to include him!!!!
(Oops
his head was cropped off. See the other group shot.
Sorry Derek.)
Fun
was had by all!!! We're taking the evening off to rest
up for more adventures tomorrow!!!
(Thank You Ms. Siwula & CLASS!
Your Gnomad is on her way!)
