The Hand Off

My Host Is: Lacy C.

It was a sad farewell in Mattawan as we said our goodbye's to Mr. Jeff, David, Irene and Little Glenn. We had fun visiting Ms. Siwula's class and Gene the Pumpkin Man! (Bud, I mentioned your visit with Gene to some folks I met in Hilo. They knew who Gene the Pumpkin Man is! He has been on CNN recently. Wow!)

Frosty, unfortunately was not able to join us on our travels, at least not as a snowman. As you can see in the above shot, Frosty insisted that he would be able to travel with us, however, he melted too quickly to be refrozen. Heather took the above heart wrenching photo.

All was not lost. Tiki Jr has brought Frosty along in spirit though by absorbing him.

We arrived in Lyons shortly after noon today and were greeted with tons of rain and a flood warning. Kinda felt like being home in Puna. We didn't really do anything but stay at home. Hopefully the weekend will be better and we can do some site seeing in Tony, Heather & Lacy's old stomping grounds of Delta Ohio. (I consider Delta Ohio my hometown. Lived in this small NW Ohio town off and on during my childhood.)

We said our farewells to Heather, Tiki Jr was rather relieved to be in Lacy's hands after all that fireplace and firewood business. (Thank you for participating Heather & Family, Uncle Ernie & Aunt Kim. I'll call you soon.)

We were formally greeted with a customary sniff by Checkers, one of Lacy's 3 pomeranians. The other 2 were unavailable to cooperate.

I had a feeling that if I were out on the lawn, Checkers may have greeted me differently. Thank heavens for small favors and we are on good terms for the visit. (Let's hope it stays that way.)

Today was a long journey and a rainy day. Lacy showed us to the guest room where she read us "The Cat In The Hat" by Dr. Seuss. (A personal favorite of mine!)

Good Night John Boy...
