I
awoke to Hans muttering "Where's Freddy?"
in a panicked voice.
Since their arrival on the island of Hawaii, Hans had
noticed a change in Freddy's behavior. He had become
somewhat withdrawn from us and spent most of his time
finding cool damp places to relax.

We
searched the condo high and low. It was a huge place
at the Hilton
Grand Vacation Resort. The Sears had
arranged for these rooms for the several volunteers
that helped make the film festival run smoothly. This
place costs a few bucks per night!
Needless to say, this is far different from the life
I live in Puna and I rather gluttonously took maybe
6 showers, one bath and several visits to the pool over
this 4 day period. When you live on catchment, water
conservation isn't a choice, it's a way of life.

Speaking
of bathtubs! This is the only tub I have ever been in
that a person could fit their whole body in to.
I digress, so Freddy was still missing. We looked everywhere...

And
we finally found him in that huge tub.
We had again startled him just as he appeared to be
getting ready to go down the drain and remain permanently
in Hawaii. "The Crocogator That Ate Waikoloa."
It took a little coaxing to get him to move away from
the drain. When Hans mentioned that Jennifer would be
disappointed and he would never see all his friends
at Blue Moon Enchantments again Freddy climbed out of
the tub.
Needless to say we plugged all the drains in the place
and left Freddy and his glum mood relaxing on a plant
for the rest of our Waikoloa visit. Sorry Freddy.
