| It
was time to film our parts for the show, and we watched on as Matt and Happy set
up our introduction. We acted in a few small skits, and even took part in part
of a video blog that Matt posted on YouTube, and included in the behind the scenes
footage for the TV program. After filming those parts
of the show, we were given a tour of Evansville by Matt and his pal, David W.
Johnson. David is another public
access TV show producer that frequently guest stars on Matt's show,
and vice-versa. It was a cold December day, but that
did not damper our fun. We went to Garvin Park, where we ran into a news reporter,
Jennifer
Cahill, that worked for News 25 for one of the local TV stations in
Evansville. She didn't interview us, but did agree to go on camera and greet us
for "The Happy Show!" Next to Garvin Park is
Bosse Field, a baseball stadium that was used as a location in the 1991 film,
"A League of Their Own." That film starred Madonna, Tom Hanks, Geena
Davis, and Rosie O'Donnell.
After partying with some ducks, and looking
at the Christmas displays at the park, Matt, David, Tiki Jr, and I headed to the
Willard Library. This historical site was built back in the 1800's, and is reputedly
the home of a ghost named "The Grey Lady." We didn't see her, but Tiki
Jr was a bit nervous at the thought of coming into contact with an apparition.
We were told that the cable TV show "Ghost Hunters" had actually been
at the Willard Library to investigate the haunting.
From there, we went
the downtown Evansville, where we got to see the historical home of Willard Carpenter,
for whom the library was named. During the time of slavery in the United States,
the home served as part of the Underground Railroad, which allowed slaves to escape
to freedom. |
