| Tiki
Jr and I arrived at Comics
Unlimited in Evansville, Indiana the second week of December. Matt
Hawes, the owner, welcomed us and introduced us to his friends.
Matt is
a life-long fan of comic books, and has been reading comics for nearly 30 years.
In 1996, he decided to open his own comics shop in his hometown of Evansville. He
has an extensive knowledge of the history of comics and an appreciation that's
second to none.
In addition to running a comic book
shop, Matt hosts, directs, produces, and stars in his very own public access television
program called "The Happy Show!" The show not only runs on Evansville's
public access channels, but can be seen on the Internet on websites such as YouTube
and LiveVideo. (More about the show at the end of our
visit) Tiki Jr and I were also introduced to Matt's
co-host, Happy, the "Happy Show" puppet! Tiki Jr and I got along well
with Happy! He doesn't talk much. In fact, he doesn't really say anything, at
all. He is referred to as "The mostly mute puppet." I understand that
he can speak, but is a bit shy. Tiki Jr and I were admittedly a bit shy ourselves
when we realized that we would be starring on "The Happy Show!" |
